Great beer and Birkdale reminds us of London suburbs

Dawn has worked really hard to build this business up. Tiny venue, but worth a visit if you can get a seat. Maybe call first ? Like most of the businesses (about 12 in all ?) under that canopied pavement, they all maintain a really high standard of quality.I've enjoyed many a coffee and read of their paper, whiling away an hour whilst food shopping was attended to :-)

We all love the Barrel!! Great selection of beers. It's small inside so only fits 20 people before it's rammed! Only draw back is last orders at 09:20

I've been in here a few times when on holiday in the area. It's a nice place to go into.

Lovely, quirky with a fantastic range of draught and bottled beers. Limited range of food but excellent quality. Staff are great. Highly recommended by me and my friends.

Stopped for a coffee when we were cold and wet and stayed to have 2 very good mochas each. Dog friendly too. We will be back to try some beer and cider and a cheese board later this week.

A cosy continental style cafe/bar located just around the corner from the Birkdale railway station.The bar has two real cask ales and keg lines as well, usually featuring one local beer. Always in good condition. There is also a quite large bottle selection of domestic and world beers so you should have no problem finding something to quench your thirst!Food is available but only during certain times of day so please check first before making the journey if coming for a bite to eat as well. Seating can be tricky to find during busy periods and standing room is limited, there is also a seating area on the pavement.Previously the Barrel House was a newsagent but you can still pick up your daily news paper!

Just love this place. Great beers and ales and the most chilled of atmospheres. Beware, it is very small but that just adds to the atmosphere.

Very small micro pub but well worth a visit if you can get in !

This is a beautiful little pub stocked with a wonderful selection of belgian beers, with excellent outdoor seating area on a sunny day. A cosy space indoors so during the busiest periods be prepared to wait for a space, although not usually a problem due to the pleasant, friendly and inviting staff that run the place. Also nicely situated next to a cheese shop offering a great cheese platter- a great place for any beer lovers. Expert advice on tap and great place to bag yourself a gift for any beer lovers. Cheers

Went a year or so ago great real ale micro pub , but now seems to be more of a cafe , than micro pub , not bad beer very busy as cafe !!

Lovely selection of ales, great when warm so can sit outside. It would benefit moving to somewhere bigger, but I suppose the 'tiny-ness' is some of its charm. Love that you select your own from fridges/wall. Allows dogs, big restroom. Friendly staff.

Great place for bottles (beer / ale etc) but also a surprisingly good wine menu! And the best cheese board too. Great for a relaxing drink.

An absolute gem. A fantastic selection of cask, fraught and bottled beers. Great snacks/food and (well behaved) dog friendly too. Absolutely worth a visit. The flap jack is brilliant.

Best bar in Birkdale

Some of the strongest beer I've ever had, with a very large selection. Very quaint little cafe/bar. Could do with a little dusting. Lots of spiders and their prey cocooned up.A fairly minor grievance to a brilliant little place.

This is a wonderful little place with a friendly and knowledgable barman, who steers you right on the best brew for you. It’s a small, intimate place but that just adds to the atmosphere. It’s worth waiting for a table or chair and enjoying the great selection of beers. Trust the barman - he knows what he’s talking about.

Great coffee. Big selection of Belgian beers. However, I would like to see more New England style beers and a few times I’ve brought the beer home and then found it’s out of date, which doesn’t bother me too much but it shouldn’t be full price.

Great little bar. Huge selection of continental bottled beers. Always has a couple of real ales and several continental beers on draught. Good selection of wines by the glass or bottle.

Lovely lady serving very accommodating, it was quaint, lovley, well decorated and very clean. Woulf deffinetly go back there
